Hello, I will treat this as two separate questions first is the afterlife a Biblical based belief? The Bible actually supports resurrection from the dead, John 5:28-29 and the state of the dead is inactivity, Psalms 146:4. The so-called spirit of the dead cease to be active without the body, Job 14:10 (TLB), Ecclesiastes 9:10 NOG), Isaiah 38:18 (ERV). The dead do not come back to communicate with the living this is a scam/hoax created by someone. All of these passages explain what happens to the body when death occurs, all activity ceases and/or only God can give life back to the body, especially after a long time. It is true that the body can be resuscitated momentarily with electricity, but never after a long period of time from death state.
I believe in having a goal in life that motivates us to continue in a straight forwards path towards truth, as it is made clearer with time. The Christians goal is to advance in receiving accurate knowledge of the truth from God, this is a life lone goal that ends with us obtaining salvation as a gift or a reward. The promises in the Bible encourage us to continue in the things we have learn and develop strong belief in the word of God, 2 Timothy 3:14-17. Since we are Bible students, we know that our habits and actions is a determining factor if we will receive salvation, Revelation 20:12. But what passage in the Bible truly helps us decide for ourselves to become strong in faith right down towards the end?
Matthew 7:21-23
Modern English Version (MEV)
I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father
who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonderful works in Your name?’ 23 But then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice evil.’
