Hello, the Christian view of baptism is we have the way that John the Baptist started preaching his own message, Acts 13:24. When Jesus Christ came to John to be baptized, he displayed an example for us by being baptized himself. We follow this example of becoming a Christian, baptism as a symbol for repentance of sins. The unique procedure of starting a new life and you have your sins washed away is the result of water immersion. You are now dedicating your life to following Christian views and beliefs.
It is all very simple and a meaningful way for people to see that you are dedicating your life to following Christianity. You should be old enough to make all these decisions on your own, this is your personal choice to devote your life to God. What passage in the Bible follows a natural course of action that leads us to baptism and dedicating our lives to following Christian principles?
