Ecclesiastes 3:9-14
Easy-to-Read Version
God Controls His World
9 Do people really gain anything from their hard work? 10 I saw all the hard work God gave us to do. 11 God gave us the ability to think about his world, but we can never completely understand everything he does. And yet, he does everything at just the right time.
12 I learned that the best thing for people to do is to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live. 13 God wants everyone to eat, drink, and enjoy their work. These are gifts from God.
14 I learned that anything God does will continue forever. People cannot add anything to the work of God, and they cannot take anything away from it. God did this so that people would respect him.
Footnotes
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 the ability … world Or “a desire to know the future.”
Hello greetings, I would agree completely God gave people limitations and people should be able to identify their limitations. Because of imperfection our limitations may be blurred so we can make a lot of mistakes, especially in our youth. In spite of this fact the need to know the future or where life will go say after 50 years of life. The questions that lead us to wanting information about our future: Can God reverse death? Will people always make mistakes, or will a change occur when this is a thing of the past? Will we always be old and lose our strength? Will knowledge be limited, or will we be able to acknowledge time and space?
The passage states that we have certain gifts from God that balance and make us happy in spite of our imperfect state. But the prophecies of the Bible paint a picture that should give us strong curiosity of a better future, and this comes only from God. I agree with every word and hope that you can do the same.
