Hello, the Tree of Knowledge was a choice that Eve could make as well as Adam, eat of it and receive power as the serpent said or do not eat and obey the direct order from God himself. This is the choice related to the Tree of Knowledge. Since Eve did not know for sure what is going on and she did not question God about everything said by the serpent. A whistleblower if you will…. well, this is the test.
If someone raises questions about an important issue, we can always ask the authority figure if the matter is correct. Eve could have asked God about the entire situation that was her choice to make, being sure about something before you act. Nothing is wrong with questioning God; it would not have been rebellious to simply discuss the matter with God. This situation also tests the relationship that Eve had with God, nothing is wrong with communication.
The entire point is to watch the reaction of Eve when confronted with a dilemma. Was someone trying to trick her? Force her into a wrongful course? Was a rebellion at work and she was included with a group? God’s authority was under question how did Eve respond to this? Eve did not investigate to find out what was going on, if she had done so her choices would probably have been different since she knew more and could decide.
James 1:14-15
Easy-to-Read Version
14 You are tempted by the evil things you want. Your own desire leads you away and traps you. 15 Your desire grows inside you until it results in sin. Then the sin grows bigger and bigger and finally ends in death.
