Hi well actually the Bible story of the Exodus the people did not know that the waters would split into two like that. In dealings with matters of God and his direction it is inappropriate to think nothing had happen up to this point. We have the deliver Moses and his life story, Exodus Chapter 6-7:7. We have the deliverance from Egypt, Exodus chapter 7:8- chapter 13:16. Now we are approaching the journey to Mt. Sinai where the Laws of God will be provided, Exodus 13:17- chapter 14:20. Moses led the people to the edge of the waters and then told them to watch and see the power of the Lord. When the sea split it deeply frightened the people, but the Egyptians were behind them so in order to escape they had to walk through the waters on dry land, Exodus 14:21-31. The account says the people walked through dry land all night which of course is hours, when they finally reached the other side, the Egyptians were encouraged to pursue them. This incident led to the death of all the Egyptians by drowning in the waters as they returned to normal. The feelings the Israelites had is recorded in the Bible as a song and the affects that saving them had, Exodus chapter 15.
