Hi if you were in the Garden of Eden or Adam and Eve this ability would not be in you, it must be introduced to you, Genesis 3:1–5. The ability to think for yourself was not created in humans' period, this is why God expected obedience to divine law and will. The entire account of Genesis chapter 3 explains a lot about humans and their abilities to stay within their own limitations. The idea of eating from the forbidden tree was just a story of thinking outside of the box, Jeremiah 10:23.
So, the question itself would be contrary to human origins since we are built a certain way. The concept of determining when to bestow salvation to humans is the reason we are now enduring the Great Tribulation that requires a test first of human fitness in order to allow the human body to acquire salvation, Revelation 3:10 and Daniel 12:9–10. The account of Genesis chapter 3 and the rest of the Holy Scriptures actually debates God’s right to rule as in God kingdom being established as a natural divine theocracy.
