The essence is your personality or who you are, information is relayed to the brain and your feelings and memories are stored as a record of you as a person. It is housed in your gut, and this is revealed by your deepest feeling originating there mostly called the second brain scientifically (see passage and footnote below). It is interesting that you asked the question because many people ask the same question with no answer. The essence is the spirit that empowers you and fuels you to do and be what you want to do, Genesis 2:7. The core of your being is what the essence is, with time it ages to understand who we are and what we want. Babies have an essence of course since they are alive, but it is immature to knowing itself and desires.
