Hello yes that is correct the story of the Exodus is not real but the writings of God that tell the story of real places but not real people. The area of the Red Sea and Mount Sinai of course are real places, but the Israelites did not journey there or cross over the Red Sea. The reason for the story to be placed in the Bible is for the culture of the Hebrews to develop and faith is established.
