James 2:20-24
Modern English Version (MEV)
20 But do you want to be shown, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 Do you see how faith worked with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 The Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,”
and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then how by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
Hi the example of faith displayed by Abraham was the most powerful that was recorded in the Bible. The reason being is that Abraham knew the connection of his promises and blessings for the future rested on Isaac. Did Abraham think God was a fool, a liar, or that he was in fact playing games? Never for Abraham had deep faith in God's righteousness and trustworthiness. When asked to kill his son whom all the blessings were connected to, did Abraham feel that God made a strange request?
The test of faith surely had more to do with Abraham’s feeling about God and how he followed orders from God. These are important factors because imperfection controls our lives and doubt can really be a big problem for us. In acknowledging the faith that Abraham showed in God what passage in the Bible helps us see clearly how Abraham felt about God himself?
Hebrews 11:17-19
Modern English Version (MEV)
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son. 18 Of him God said, “Through Isaac shall your seed be named.” 19 He reasoned that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he indeed received him in a figurative sense.
