Matthew 16:1-4
Easy-to-Read Version
Some People Doubt Jesus’ Authority
16 The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus. They wanted to test him. So they asked him to show them a miracle as a sign from God.
2 Jesus answered, “When you people see the sunset, you know what the weather will be. If the sky is red, you say we will have good weather. 3 And in the morning, if the sky is dark and red, you say that it will be a rainy day. These are signs of the weather. You see these signs in the sky and know what they mean. In the same way, you see the things that are happening now. These are also signs, but you don’t know their meaning. 4 It is the evil and sinful people who want to see a miracle as a sign from God. But no miracle will be done to prove anything to them. The only sign will be the miracle that happened to Jonah.” Then Jesus went away from there.

I understand that people can be doubtful at a world that does not display happiness or good merits. I feel that these things are of God, you may ask if God is good then why doesn't the world display the things of God, as if he left or abandoned it, Genesis 1:26-27. When people doubt things, they normally do so for a reason. When Jesus got frustrated at the Pharisees and the Sadducees, it was because he felt that they did not display Godly devotion nor did they seemed to teach it, Matthew 15:3-11. This is basically their jobs, they came to test Jesus as if he were incompetent in his role and would be easy to entrap which is basically human nature, Matthew 22:15.
They asked if Jesus was from God, please show them a sign from the heavens which upset him, Matthew 12:39-42. This attitude is very healthy coming from Jesus in reply because he has displayed godly devotion from the moment he began his preaching so there is no reason to doubt, James 1:6-8. So, he called them wicked because they could not tell he was of God seeing the works he did. This is an important lesson for us today, why? Because even if we are not serious God is indeed serious and we should be seriously and zealously working for God, 1 Corinthians 10:31. There is no proof that Jesus was not serious.
