Hi, I know of two situations in the Bible concerning owing a debt Luke 7:41–50 and Matthew 18:23–35. I like one story better than the other story because it fits the modern day. When the man was called into account to repay what was owed, he truthfully and humbly explained that he needed time to repay and asked for mercy. Perhaps he asked for mercy humbly and truthfully that was why it had been granted so his debt was cancelled. He did not do the same in return when someone who owed him money, he did not reward mercy but had the man thrown in jail.
It was really hard to understand the reaction of the debtor that was shown mercy, perhaps he just simply wanted money in his pocket or just was not in a position to extend mercy. In the world today with COVID-19 we know how it feels to be without work and no money. Also, we have been on lockdown over and over again. We can understand how he may have been in no position to grant mercy. The cities of the world have been slow to reopen today we can better understand that parable. Peace
