Hello this is two different situations but both passages denote strong Christian principles. Both stories focus on forgiveness, one a judgment call and another a parable on personal injuries among brothers and sisters within the church.
FORGIVINESS - JUDGMENT
Matthew 18:18-20
Easy-to-Read Version
18 “I can assure you that when you speak judgment here on earth, it will be God’s judgment. And when you promise forgiveness here on earth, it will be God’s forgiveness. 19 To say it another way, if two of you on earth agree on anything you pray for, my Father in heaven will do what you ask. 20 Yes, if two or three people are together believing in me, I am there with them.”
The emphasis in this passage is actually the judgment call, God’s forgiveness and the way God would handle the matter since people sin and make mistakes. When a group of leaders are seeking a judicial matter within the church the proper way is to pray on the matter together as a group, meaning all overseers are in agreement and have discuss the matter and reviewed all angles and then pray before a decision is made. Why is it the best way to handle this kind of situation?
1 Corinthians 5:4
Living Bible
3-4 Although I am not there with you, I have been thinking a lot about this, and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I have already decided what to do, just as though I were there. You are to call a meeting of the church—and the power of the Lord Jesus will be with you as you meet, and I will be there in spirit--
Matthew 28:20
Living Bible
20 and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”
PARABLE -
FORGIVENESS PERSONAL INJURIES
Matthew 18:21-22
Living Bible
21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Sir, how often should I forgive a brother who sins against me? Seven times?”
22 “No!” Jesus replied, “seventy times seven!
Again, as with the first situation this case involves individual Christian's dealings with each other, and it is important to recall that all of us are not perfect and make mistakes. Under the Law of Christ what should we do and why should we do it this way?

Your New Life With Each Other
12 God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So, your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient. 13 Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you. 14 Together with these things, the most important part of your new life is to love each other. Love is what holds everything together in perfect unity.
