Hi, praying means to communicate with God even though God already knows what is happening in your life because he can see what is going on, Proverbs 15:3. For example, he may already know you will lose your job, not because he is all knowing but because he saw your bosses talking about letting you go nearly a month before they actually told you. Some people don't know that is how things are. Prayer can be tricky if you are not accurate in understanding what should be "talked" about. This comes from your teachings, or it can be a nature point where you have to study the Scriptures to find out more information about how and what to speak to God about.
It does truly surprise me when people pray and they 'sound' disrespectful. They did not even know how to approach God in prayer much less what to talk about. I think this should be a personal and progressive form of each person's worship. An in-depth study of God's word that help us build the tools we need to approach and communicate with God correctly.
